Liga Pilipinas

Liga Pilipinas is a regional basketball league in the Philippines. It is sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, the country’s national basketball federation, and owned by Pinoy Basketbol, Inc. The National Basketball Conference and the Mindanao Visayas Basketball Association, along with Third Force Inc., were merged to officially form the league. The league’s launch is on May 31, 2008, and games started on June 18, 2008.

The league is currently headed by President/CEO Noli Eala.

Thru an agreement between Liga Pilipinas and the Philippine Basketball League, A joint tournament will be held in June 2010.The agreement was made as dry-run of a proposed "Developmental League", which was initiated by the Philippine Basketball Association, just like NBA’s D-League. The new league will be named "Tournament of the Philippines".

Tournament of the Philippines will use Liga Pilipinas’ home-and-away leg format were all 9 teams will be involved, 3 from the Philippine Basketball League and 6 from Liga Pilipinas.

Tournament of the Philippines has started June 9th,2010.
